How to "Watch" the Game
- Logon to a poker site and open a table. At this time, the program supports
Party Poker,
Empire Poker,
Poker Stars,
UltimateBet,
Ladbrokes Poker,
Royal Vegas Poker,
The Gaming Club, and
7 Sultans Poker
- Click the Select Table button and select a table.
- The name of the selected table is displayed on the window title bar.
- Select your seat # from Select Seat combo box (on UltimateBet, you are always at seat #5).
- Click the Start Watching button.
- If you fold, your hand will be dimmed.
- To stop watching, click the Stop Watching button.
- Note 1: The program can only "see" what you can see, so if the game table is behind a window it won't be able to capture the cards.
- Note 2: If playing on Ladbrokes or Royal Vegas, make sure to select "Separate windows per game" from Menu->Options->General Options from lobby.
You need to close all game windows BEFORE selecting this option.
Stats
- There are 37 odds categories in Online 7-Card Stud Inspector.
If an odds category is impossible for a given situation it's not shown.
- Your current poker hand is shown at the top.
- Your expected win rate -- result of simulation against all active players using available live cards.
- Playable Hands -- on the 3rd street, one pair or better + good draws. On the 5th street on, two pairs
or better + good draws.
- Good Draws -- straight draws w/ 6 or more outs + flush draws w/ 6 or more outs.
- No Pair, No Draw -- no pair, no straight draws, and no flush draws.
- Straight Draw (n outs) -- straight draws with n live cards to make a straight.
- Flush Draw (n outs) -- flush draws with n live cards to make a flush.
- Other odds categories are self-explanatory so we won't list them here (e.g. Trips or Better, Flush or Better, etc.).
Simulations
- When "watching", the program runs heads-up simulation against each of the active players using available live cards.
- The seat numbers starts from the player at the top-right corner and then goes clockwise.
- On UltimateBet, the seat number starts from the top-center and then goes clockwise. So you're always player #5.
- The program also runs simulation against all active players. This is your expected win rate as mentioned above.
- When dealing random hands, the program runs heads-up simulation against various board type.
- On the 3rd street, there are 13 board types -- Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, and Two.
- On the 4th street, there are 4 board types -- Big Pair, Medium Pair, Small Pair, and Two Card Flush.
- On the 5th street, there are 6 board types -- Trips, Big Pair, Medium Pair, Small Pair, Three Card Flush, and Three Card Straight.
- On the 6th street, there are 9 board types -- Two Pairs, Possible Flush, Possible Straight, and all of 5th street board types.
- On the 7th street, there are 9 board types -- same as 6th street.
Should I Action Randomizer
- If you play same way all the time, you'll become too predictable and your profit will suffer.
You can use Should I Action Randomizer to vary your play.
- If you're in a tough situation and not sure what to do, you might want to use Should I Action Randomizer to randomize your actions.
- Select the appropriate action pairs from "Should I" combo box.
- There are four types of action pairs -- Call or Fold, Check or Bet, Call or Raise, and Raise or Fold.
- Each of those paired actions have three types of paired percentages -- 25% or 75%, 50% or 50%, and 75% or 25%.
- For example, if you select "Call (25%) or Fold(75%)?", the program displays "Call" 25% of the time and "Fold" 75% of the time.
- Selecting "Random (no action/action)" item generates evenly distributed actions for both no action and action pot.
The first action is for no action pot and the second action is for the action pot.
- The Random Action text box displays a number and the random action.
The number represents the random number generated by the program from 1 to 100.
- You can click on the Random Action text box for next random action.
Traffic Lights
- To enable/disable traffic light click on the Traffic Light. If it's disabled all the lights will be switched off.
- The Red light indicates the hand is not even worth a single bet in most situations.
If you think it's a good time to bluff you can use Should I Action Randomizer to randomize your bluffing frequency.
- The Yellow light indicates the hand is marginal in value.
Your action depends a lot on the situation (type of opponent, betting history, pot size, # of opponents,...).
You'll most likely have small pair or medium pair with poor draws.
If you are not sure what to do you can use Should I Action Randomizer to randomize your action (Call or Fold, Call or Raise,...)
- The Green light indicates the hand is worth at least a single bet in most situations.
- Traffic light is based on combination of your expected win rate, Playable Hands odds, and heads-up simulation vs active players.
- The purpose of the traffic light is to summarize all those numbers from odds and simulation results and give an instant feedback of your hand strength.
- Unlike odds and simulations, the traffic light is more like an art than a science.
We had to use our own playing experience and guidance of 30+ poker books to tweak and re-tweak the codes.
The traffic light usually performs as we designed it but it's not perfect.
Furthermore, the program does not know exact situation you are in (and there are so many of them).
So you should not make your betting decisions solely based on the traffic light.
- The traffic light can, however, help you avoid misreading your hands.
Remember the time when you were going for a flush but didn't know you also had a double belly buster?
On the 7th street, you missed your flush so you threw your hand away, but a moment later you realized that you actually had a straight?
Well, if you were running Online 7-Card Stud Inspector, you'll see that the green light just came on so you would gladly double-check your hand.
- The traffic light can also help you stay off a tilt. When you're on tilt you play hands that you normally throw away.
When you hold trash hands, the red light will be switched on and it will constantly remind you that you shouldn't be playing those hands.
- Note: The traffic light looks at high hand stats only (it ignores low hand stats).
Dealing Random Hands
- When not "watching", click the Deal Random button to deal random hands.
- Click the Deal Random button again to see the next card.
- You can also press the <Spacebar> to deal next card (if the button has the focus).
- To deal random cards continuously, enable the Auto Random Deal option from Settings dialog.
To stop dealing, click the Stop Dealing button.
Deck Stacking

- Select a rank and a suit from the popup menu.
- The stacked cards have yellow background.
- To unstack, right-click the card and select Clear.
- To remove or restore cards from the deck, click one of the cards at the top portion of the window.
- When you start "watching", all of the stacked cards will be cleared.
- You cannot stack the deck when the cards are being dealt.
Settings
- Use Settings dialog to customize various options for the program.
- 4-Color Deck -- Uncheck for normal deck, and check for 4-color deck.
- Auto Random Deal -- Uncheck to deal random cards one at a time; otherwise, the program will continue
to deal the cards until Stop Deal button is pressed.
- Manual Capture Mode -- This option makes it easier to play on unsupported sites.
On this mode, the stats are automatically calculated as you enter (or stack) the cards on each betting round.
After the hand, select Clear All to unstack all cards (or press <Ctrl-Shift-A>).
- Show My Dead Cards -- Select this option to easily identify your cards in the discard area (at the top).
Your dead cards have dark yellow background and other dead cards have dark gray background.
- Show Aces after the Kings -- Select this option if you want the Aces to be shown after the Kings in the discard area.
- Show Low Hand Odds -- Select this option to show low hand odds.
Note: The traffic light is not effected by this option (it only shows high hand strength).
- Playing Style -- There are five preset styles - Very Loose, Loose, Normal, Tight, and Very Tight.
The playing style effects the traffic light.
- Bluffing Frequency -- Used by Should I Action Randomizer.
You would normally set this high for tight games (players) and low for loose games (players).
- # Hands per Simulation -- How many hands to simulate for each simulation.
- Time Delay Between Deals -- How many seconds to pause before dealing next random card (in offline mode).
- Time Delay Between Captures -- How many seconds to pause before "watching" for the next new card.
Tips
- To Copy the current stats to system clipboard press Ctrl-C (in tab-delimited format). You can then Paste it into Excel or any text programs.
- You can use the number displayed on the Random Action text box to randomize your actions.
For example, if you want to bluff 10% of the time you would bluff when the number is 10 or less.
- If you click the Start Button, it will automatically "watch" the first 7-Card Stud table found on your desktop.
- To "watch" multiple tables, open another instance of Online 7-Card Stud Inspector.
- You can also connect to 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo games and keep track of live/dead cards; however, only the "high" stats are shown.
- To Unstack all of the stacked cards, press <Ctrl-Shift-A>.
- To change height of the window, drag top/bottom edge of the window. The width of the window is preset and cannot be changed.
